Ngerende Island Lodge is situated about 120kms from Narok town (a two hour drive or 4 hours from Nairobi) on the Olchoro – Oirogua Conservation Ranch which borders the Masai Mara Game Reserve. The Olchoro – Oirogua Ranch covers more than 5000 acres and is mainly open savannah except along the banks of the Mara River which are heavily wooded and are ideal habitat for wildlife. Ngerende Island Lodge lies at 5300 feet above sea level and is serviced by its own airstrip, just 2kms away, making access very easy, all year round. The lodge shares its river-side plot with two large pods of hippos, at famous look-out points that have been popular with visitors for many years. These are now exclusive to Ngerende, as they are within the private area surrounding the lodge.
